How Can We Help?

Big ideas. Bigger impact: How storytelling powers nonprofit success.

Our Story

Branding for Humanity grew out of the entertainment industry. Our Chief Creative Officer was global Creative Director for Steven Spielberg and George Lucas. Our CEO was Creative Director in the Worldwide Marketing Group for Columbia Pictures. They produced hundreds of campaigns for every major studio and marketed many of the biggest blockbusters and cultural classics in history. These films include Star Wars, Return of The Jedi, Ghostbusters, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Raiders of The Lost Ark, Schindler’s List, Empire Strikes Back, Dances with Wolves, Home Alone, Edward Scissorhands, Jumanji, The Big Lebowski, Men in Black, and more. Our leadership has been honored for creative and marketing effectiveness – including a Grammy – and have campaigns in the U.S. Library of Congress, expressly for the historical relevance of changing the face of advertising.

As brand strategists and marketers, everyone at Branding for Humanity learned early on that emotion drives action. Though logic plays a role, creative content must captivate at a visceral level. We took the experience of how to attract and grow an audience into the non-profit, institutional, and foundation world and saw that it worked amazingly well. People want to be informed, entertained and feel good about their involvement. Our whole team takes this philosophy to heart, and we apply it to everything we create.

This thinking worked so well, and we loved creating ideas to advance causes so much, we created Branding for Humanity. Today, our non-profit experience encompasses 40 years working with over 150 global, national, state and local/regional non-profits and start-ups. This expertise covers just about every category from health causes to community advancement, government agencies to educational institutions, and events to movements. Our parent firm, Sagon-Phior, handles our business and consumer clientele.

  • Christopher Skinner

    Computational Linguistics Analyst

Chris is our resident science geek, and we couldn’t do any of what we do without him. He is an expert at discovering consumers’ hidden desires using psychology, big data, and computational linguistics. Based on large datasets of hundreds of millions of people, he converts real world human behavior into inferred psychological states; for brands, understanding the audience’s psychological and emotional drivers to join, try, purchase, or repurchase is key.

Chris connects consumer-relationship data to find advantages in clients’ marketing initiatives, identifying and outlining the psychological, motivational, and emotional reasons for consumer interest and purchase decisions. His algorithmic process is akin to how companies like Netflix and Amazon understand their consumers’ preferences, injecting personality metrics into software and organizations with methods that measure the subconscious mind.

Driven by the desire to serve, and not sell, Chris switched his original career focus from building marketing and advertising technology to product and operations. Realizing that media was never a clear means to creating a successful business model, he found Product and CRM (Customer Relationship Management) a better pathway; by researching language and design thinking, CRM and look-alike CRM data can be more predictive and prescriptive.

Throughout his career, Christopher has contributed to civic and nonprofit organizations including YMCA, the U.S. Department of Defense’s ESGR program, and Idea Village in New Orleans. He has supported public libraries, community entrepreneurship programs, and cross-sector innovation models—blending psychological insight with scalable systems thinking.
